Why now?

Need is at record levels

You’ve probably felt it at the gas pump and in the checkout line. When fuel prices climb, so does the cost of moving food from farms to warehouses to store shelves. For families already stretched thin, the grocery budget is often the first thing to give.

Since Hurricane Helene, need across our 16 counties and the Qualla Boundary has stayed at record highs. Many families are still rebuilding homes, jobs, and savings, and rising costs make that harder.

Food donations are down, and costs are up

As need keeps climbing, food donations have been declining. Before COVID, MANNA spent about $500,000 a year buying food to fill the gaps. This year, we expect to spend $12 million to keep our warehouse stocked.
