About Feeding America Recall Notices: The Feeding America national office issues notifications of all national Class I and II recalls–those involving a health hazard situation in which there is reasonable probability that eating the food will cause health problems or death–and other recalls that may affect the safety of food supplied to network members.

The acronym FANO seen in some recall notices stands for Feeding America National Office.

USDA Recall Classifications
Class I This is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
Class II This is a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.
Class III This is a situation where the use of the product will not cause adverse health consequences.

Continental Mills Recalls Blueberry Pancake Mix Because of Possible Health Risk - 7/12/16

Continental Mills has issued a recall affecting only retail Krusteaz Blueberry Pancake Mix, which involves product manufactured between April 2016 and June 2016. The company was notified by our supplier that their product, a blueberry nugget, is made with a small percentage of affected flour which was recalled by General Mills because it may be contaminated with E. coli O121.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Sunflower kernel recall impacts Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars & Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars - 7/1/16

General Mills announced today a voluntary national recall of four specific flavors of Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars. The recall is being issued as part of sunflower kernel supplier SunOpta’s ongoing national recall for the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. General Mills has not received any direct consumer reports of confirmed illnesses related to this supplier issue.

The four flavors of Nature Valley bars that are part of the recall were distributed to retail establishments throughout the United States.

Bolthouse Farms Voluntarily Recalls Protein Beverages Due to Possible Spoilage - 6/27/16

Bolthouse Farms is voluntarily recalling a selection of protein drinks due to possible spoilage that may cause the beverages to appear lumpy, taste unpleasant and have an off odor.

These products should not be consumed. The issue was identified after the company received consumer complaints, including reports of illness. The cause of this issue is currently under investigation.

Snyder’s-Lance Is Issuing an Allergy Alert for Lance Oyster Crackers - 6/27/16

Snyder’s-Lance, Inc. is issuing a voluntary recall for certain code dates of their Lance brand Oyster Crackers. This action is the direct result of a recent recall by the wheat flour supplier, Grain Craft, due to certain lots of flour that may contain low levels of undeclared peanut residue. The Oyster Crackers subject to the recall may have been produced using the recalled flour and, as a result, this product may contain low levels of undeclared peanut residue. No other Lance crackers are affected by this recall.

Updated: National Frozen Foods Corporation Recalls Frozen Green Peas and Frozen Mixed Vegetables Because of Possible Health Risk - 6/27/16

Seattle, WA (June 24, 2016) – National Frozen Foods Corporation is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of Not-Ready-To Eat frozen green peas and frozen mixed vegetables because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Following cooking preparation instructions on the labels will effectively reduce the risk of exposure to this bacterium.

The products being recalled were distributed in retail stores nationwide between September 2, 2015 and June 23, 2016.
