About Feeding America Recall Notices: The Feeding America national office issues notifications of all national Class I and II recalls–those involving a health hazard situation in which there is reasonable probability that eating the food will cause health problems or death–and other recalls that may affect the safety of food supplied to network members.

The acronym FANO seen in some recall notices stands for Feeding America National Office.

USDA Recall Classifications
Class I This is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
Class II This is a health hazard situation where there is a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product.
Class III This is a situation where the use of the product will not cause adverse health consequences.

Atkins Nutritionals, Inc. Issues Voluntary Recall of Certain Products After Sunflower Seed Supplier Expands Recall Due to Listeria Concerns - 6/8/16

DENVER, CO. – Atkins Nutritionals, Inc. (“company”) is issuing a voluntary recall of limited lot codes of certain bar products. Additional Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Recalled as a Result of Expanded Sunflower Kernel Contamination by SunOpta - 6/7/16

The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., today announced a second voluntary recall of all Quaker® Quinoa Granola Bars, as a result of further sunflower kernel contamination found by ingredient supplier SunOpta.

On May 16, 2016, Quaker took the cautionary measure to issue the voluntary recall on a small quantity of their Quinoa Bars that were potentially impacted by sunflower kernels received from SunOpta that were potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (L.mono).

Hostess Brands, LLC Issues Recall On Possible Undeclared Peanut Residue In Certain Snack Cake And Donut Products - 6/7/16

Hostess Brands, LLC is voluntarily recalling 710,000 cases of select snack cakes and donuts as a direct result of the recent recall by our supplier, Grain Craft, of certain lots of its flour for undeclared peanut residue. More information about the Grain Craft recall can be found on the FDA’s website.

This recall applies only to the products listed. This recall does not affect any other Hostess Brands products.

Nature’s One Voluntarily Recalls ‘PediaSmart® Dairy Vanilla’ Because of Possible Under-Delivery of Nutrition Using Included Scoop - 6/7/16

Nature’s One of Lewis Center, OH is voluntarily recalling three lots of PediaSmart® Dairy Vanilla complete nutrition beverage powder packaged in 12.7 ounce cans, which bear the lot numbers located on the bottom of the can. This product is generally consumed by individuals between the ages of 13 months – 13 years old. The result of measuring product with the smaller scoop is that only 60% of the labeled nutritional content will be consumed per serving.

Brown & Haley of Tacoma, Washington is taking the precautionary measure of expanding its voluntary recall to include one additional lot of Mountain Thins “Trail Mix” flavor that may be impacted by sunflower seeds contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

LAKELAND, Fla – Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall for Nut, Seed and Raisin mix because it may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. The containers of prepackaged nut, seed and raisin mix were sold at Publix retail produce departments in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina with a UPC of 000-41415-08886, 002-25143-00000, 004-00002-10396, and include all date lots.

Kashi Company Voluntarily Recalls Two Varieties of Snack Bars and Two Varieties of Bear Naked® Granola Due to Potential Health Risk After Sunflower Seed Supplier Increases Scope of Impacted Products - 6/7/16

Kashi Company is expanding its previously announced voluntary recall to include two varieties of Kashi® brand snack bars – including one product in Canada – and two varieties of Bear Naked® granola because they contain ingredients made from sunflower seeds distributed by its supplier, SunOpta, that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. SunOpta expanded the scope of impacted products after Kashi announced its recall in the United States on May 31.

Recalled products can be identified on the Durkee® Salad Topping and the Food Club Salad Topping by the “Best By” date and the Hy-Vee product can be identified by its lot code. This information is printed in black ink on the bottom of the plastic product container.

Updated: Hickory Harvest Expands Recall of Certain Sunflower Kernel Products Because of Possible Listeria Monocytogenes - 6/6/16

Akron, OH, – Hickory Harvest Foods, under advice from its sunflower kernel supplier, SunOpta, is expanding their recall of a limited number of products that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. These items are in addition to the items recalled on May 4, 2016 and May 20, 2016.

The additional products were packaged at, or distributed from Hickory Harvest between the dates of June 22,2015 and May 31,2016.
