The 2022 Feeding WNC Conference
This month we had the exciting opportunity to gather our network of over 230 partner agencies, community market partners, and other partners across WNC fighting to end hunger at Folkmoot in Waynesville, NC. The last time we were all able to gather was in 2019, and many things have changed since then. The day’s focus was reconnecting – old faces and new alike.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged in peer-to-peer learning, ideas centered around enhancing neighbors’ experiences and improving nutrition through the SWAP (Supporting Wellness at Pantries) method. The conference also featured presentations and various training sessions centered around ways to build upon and strengthen the work that is already being done by our partners throughout WNC.
Our staff was also able to use the day to hear directly from partners and learn more about their interests, needs and successes. One partner that was able to showcase one of their successes was Haywood Pathways, which utilized their food truck, the Holy Cow Food Truck, to provide all attendees with a delicious lunch. Throughout the week, this truck can be found in the Waynesville-area distributing free meals to anyone.
The time together was an energizing reconvening of our partners, whose passion continues to leave us inspired and in awe.
