It warms our heart. Hunger in America 2014, the latest hunger study, shared data about the trade-offs that our clients have to make in order to put food on the table.
In these cold fall and winter months, that trade-off is often, “Heat or eat?”
The Asheville branch of Blossman Propane Gas, Appliance and Service has stepped up to help people facing hunger throughout our region. In 2013, Blossman Gas initiated the Heat for Hunger program and presented MANNA with a $2,500 check. The program was such a success that Blossman is once again donating partial proceeds from each gallon of propane sold from November 20-December 20th.
“Unfortunately, there are a lot of families in Western North Carolina who are not blessed with enough food to eat or money to heat their homes,” said David Lipe, branch manager of Blossman Gas. “We see this every day and want to do something to help. There are over 107,000 individuals who don’t know where their next meal will come from, and a lot of these people are children.”
