Vote for Skip A Side!
Voting Is Open
Hunger is a hard reality in our neighborhood that can and should be alleviated, and this idea can help do just that. The Skip A Side program was developed by The Coggiola family, owners of The Cantina at Historic Biltmore Village and longtime MANNA supporters.
Here’s how it works. At The Cantina, each entree comes with two side dishes that can be “skipped” by the guest. When taking an order, our serving staff simply asks, Do you wish to ‘skip a side’ and be nice with your rice? The Cantina then donates the $2 retail value to MANNA FoodBank. For every dollar donated through this program, MANNA can provide the food for 3.5 meals.
How well does Skip A Side work? So far, The Cantina alone has provided over 200,000 meals in our 16-county area of Western North Carolina! With your vote, USA Today’s “A Community Thrives” grant of $100,000 will be used to expand the Skip A Side program to restaurants all over North Carolina. That’s the delicious beauty of Skip A Side: It’s easy to replicate in any restaurant. Together, we can customize and implement this powerful program in your community.
Vote Once A Day, Every Day, Until May 13th!
We need your vote to share Skip A Side with restaurants near you and your local food banks. There are over 1 million restaurants in the US giving over $3 billion annually to charity. 90% give locally and 70% of that giving is hunger related. No one can thrive when they’re hungry. Dreams die in the heart of an unfed child. VOTE and help us share Skip A Side, your community’s life-giving solution to feeding people suffering from hunger.
