September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action on the issue of hunger. Organized by the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks, the campaign brings greater attention to the issue of hunger in America and promotes ways for individuals everywhere to get involved with the movement to solve it.

Thursday, September 4, 2014 Turn orange for hunger relief! We kick off our month-long effort to turn the nation orange in support of hunger-relief. We encourage everyone to play a role and show your support by wearing orange! Show your support online too! Change your Facebook and Twitter profile orange.

Wednesday,September 10, 2014 is Ingles Day at the State Fair. Bring 5 cans of Laura Lynn non-perishable food and be admitted to the Western North Carolina State Fair for free! ($8 value) MANNA volunteers will be there to collect the donations, and we always come back to our warehouse with several tons of food to distribute throughout WNC.

Thursday, September 11th, 2014 is the United Way Day of Caring for Buncombe and Haywood County.

Friday, September 12, 2014 is the United Way Day of Caring for Henderson County.

Monday, September 15, 2014 Buy your tickets now for Empty Bowls, our signature event for Hunger Action Month. Join us for lunch or dinner and enjoy delicious soup, bread, and dessert, and take home a beautiful handmade bowl as a reminder of the empty bowls throughout WNC. Buy tickets here.

Friday, September 19th MANNA is the nonprofit beneficiary for Downtown After 5 wristband sales.
