The Student Food Drive Challenge
33,109lbs of Food Donated!
Across WNC, high schools stepped up to the Student Food Drive Challenge. They had 5 weeks to rally their school communities – and they came through for our neighbors in need.
Congratulations go out to (drumroll please)…
Buncombe Co. Early College for the Grand Prize
AC Reynolds for Second Place
Asheville High for Third Place
Lots of kudos go out to every student that participated as well as their adult leadership. All together you brought in 33,109 pounds of food!
It is a harsh reality to learn that one in four of the kids in our region experience food insecurity – especially when you are sitting in a classroom of your peers. WNC kids have a great spirit and they are not sitting idly by, they are collecting food – and having fun! From the Dance party kick-off to building a buzz of awareness, to collecting the money and food that makes a real difference. WNC kids really know how to share the giving spirit! (As can be seen in this great student produced video from Asheville High).
A HUGE thank you goes out to all of you who made this drive a success!
