Learn how you can help kids stay fed this summer
Posted 01/25/12
More than ever before, our kids need help during the summer months when they do not have access to school breakfast and lunch programs. Thankfully, there is a way that you can help!
The Summer Food Service Program is a program of the USDA which funds meals for kids at community sites. MANNA serves as a site sponsor in the region and is hosting an informal forum on Friday, March 2 from 12:30 – 2:00pm to learn more about the Summer Food Service Program. If you would like to host a site, or just want to know more about the program, please make plans to join us. The state coordinator, Cynthia Ervin, and her staff will be the facilitators. It will be a great opportunity to meet her and get answers to your questions on the spot.
Along with MANNA staff, there will be representatives from food banks in Raleigh and Winston Salem that will share their experiences with operating and sponsoring the SFSP in their service regions. The forum will be held at the 627 Swannanoa River Road building, in Laurel’s Kitchen. For some introductory information visit www.nutritionnc.com/snp/sfsp.
Please feel free to extend this invitation to others who may be interested. For more information and to RSVP, contact Beth Stahl (bstahl@feedingamerica.org). Please RSVP by February 29.
