Harris Teeter's Harvest Feast
Harris Teeter Launches Harvest Feast to Support Food Bank and Food Pantry Partners
Shoppers Can Donate $1, $5 or $20 at Checkout
Asheville, NC – Oct. 28, 2013 – On Nov. 1, Harris Teeter will launch a donation card campaign to support its food bank partners in the eight southeastern and mid-Atlantic United States in which it operates stores, as well as Washington, D.C. There are two Harris Teeter locations in Western North Carolina, one in Asheville and one in Hendersonville.
From November 1 – November 30, Harris Teeter customers at every Harris Teeter location will be able to make a $1, $5, or $20 donation to Harvest Feast at checkout. Similar community-based donation card campaigns hosted by Harris Teeter have raised more than $600,000 in a given month; the 2012 Harvest Feast campaign raised over $550,000. This is the eleventh year that Harris Teeter has hosted Harvest Feast.
MANNA FoodBank will be the beneficiary of the food and funds collected at both WNC locations. MANNA is able to provide enough food for 3 meals with each dollar donated. “Harris Teeter has been an excellent partner to MANNA,” says MANNA executive director Cindy Thelkheld. “With 1 in 4 WNC children facing hunger, every dollar counts. A donation of $20 can provide enough food to feed a family for a week.”
Harris Teeter launched Harvest Feast in 2003. Since that time, the company’s shoppers have donated well over one million dollars through the campaign to support the participating food bank, as well as donated hundreds of thousands of pounds of nonperishable food items.
