High schools across Western North Carolina are right now dreaming and scheming of clever ways to collect the most food and funds for MANNA. Will they make more rap videos like Asheville High did last year ? Will they dress up and hold a bake sale? Will they have a dance marathon?

The competition is friendly but it can still be fierce. Students will have to put their heads together to gather more than last year’s 33,109 pounds of food (that’s from all of the schools combined).

Buncombe Early College holds the title for 2013, but which school will step up for 2014? Only the students can decide.

The competition is from Feb 5th – March 10th. Find your local school or alma mater – and GIVE!

Schools participating include:

  • AC Reynolds High School
  • ArtSpace Charter School
  • Asheville High School
  • Asheville Montessori
  • Asheville School
  • Avery High School
  • Buncombe County Early College
  • Cherokee High School
  • Christ School
  • Hiwassee Dam High School
  • Madison High School
  • North Henderson High School
  • Owen High School
  • TC Roberson High School
  • Tri-County Early College

March 11th is Loading Day
Schools will bring their donations the MANNA distribution center in under their own school banner. That’s the day all the food will be officially weighed and the winner will be determined. Get your donations in to your school well before then! For more details or questions contact ccrenshaw@mannafoodbank.org

Thanks to all of the youth and youth leaders helping to raise awareness and build a stronger WNC for the future.
